Form still follows function. Every good design should conform to its purpose without compromising aesthetics. Every line and dot should have a meaning and a purpose.
i have now over 30+ years of design and production experience in the print industry. my extensive background in advertising agencies and design studios enabled me to work with various projects such as annual reports, corporate brochures, package design, point-of-purchase, photography, website design and others. my exposure in asia and the united states gave me valuable insights on global trends.
RANDOM TRIVIA:
- My career started as an industrial designer; designing lube oil bottles, signages, pylons, uniforms for a new gas station in the Philippines.
- Between 1987-1997, most of my projects were designing Procter and Gamble packaging and merchandising materials for Pantene, Rejoice (PERT), Tide, Mr. Clean, Safegard, Camay, Whisper (Always) , Oil of Olay, Pampers, Head and Shoulders, Dari Creme, Star Margarine, Formula 44, etc. Artworks and comps were all done by hand back then, until our first Mac.
- My short designer stint in Singapore was my first “away from home” experience.
- There was a time I watched professional basketball games court side, under the ring, with a camera. That was my first commission as a professional photographer.
- My overseas assignment in Los Angeles was the highlight of my career.
• Hawaii was a job offer i couldn’t refuse. - My first international exposure was in “Rockport’s Best of Business Card Design 2” Book. I entered my own business card.
- I am a self-learned webmaster…. by accident. Everything i know about web design was a product of playing a massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG), Ambar… and as a forum member/admin of the now defunct Alimasag.com.
